How much should a salesperson be compensated if they create a game changing model for the company & industry?

If a company's current model is unprofitable, and one employee comes up with a brand new concept that will not only be a game changer for the industry, but save the company and give the company a huge edge in the industry... how should that person be compensated? Company Stock? More Salary, high commission plan? Royalty Fee?
