Confused.Help.?

All my life I have been raised a Catholic. My family aren't devout Catholics though.I'm 17 Now and I'm not sure what to believe. All I know is that I do believe in a creator. This universe couldn't have popped out of nowhere. But Catholicism, religion in general...I don't know whether I want to be a part of it or not. I mean all I see is each religion claiming to be the "true" religion, fighting against each other, hating each other, starting wars, damning each other to hell( if they believe in it). How do they know whether or not they are the "true" religion, they don't, then why are they fighting with other religions?? I don't know, and it confuses me. Also my Christian friend was arguing with me the other day, she was trying to convert me. I told her I didn't want to be Christian. She told me I was going to hell. That pissed me off. I thought they believed that the only person that can judge you is God, then why do they damn people to hell?? ( Not just speaking about Christians.)
