Romeo & Juliet HELP!?

It states that the 2 families have hatred for each other, and if anyone gets involved with someone from the opposing family that won't b loyal to his or her family the grudge is strong and old it has a new meaning and it is up to children to change destiny. I still don't understand y the hatred of the two families is so strong? That both families loose loved ones
