What exactly is a slime in mugen?

i was downloading characters for mugen and every site i open lots of slimes are available for download i don't know what it is or from what game it came from so i just skip on every slime i see. but it came to my mind that maybe its a very useful character. im out of mugen character slots and i'm thinking to replace some characters for this "slime"....
