Graphing trigonometric functions?

I cannot seem to find any information on how to determine the spacing of the t-axis when you graph a trig function. By t-axis I mean the x-axis. How do I know what values to put on the t-axis? For example: If I was asked to graph g(x)=-3cos(1/3x), how would I know what angles (represented in radians) to put on the x-axis? I read something about taking the period and dividing by four but that doesn't seem to work. Any help is greatly appreciated.
